ABOUT PATRICK
Patrick A. Watts is the founder of the Watts Law Group, LLC. Patrick focuses his practice primarily on complex litigation and trial work. Patrick has extensive experience litigating cases, from initial pleadings through trial, in courts around the country. Patrick has advocated as lead counsel for a multitude of national companies in dozens of class action matters in federal courts nationwide.
Patrick has significant experience in the areas of financial and securities litigation, class action defense, consumer defense (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act defense, Telephone Consumer Protection Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act), shareholder/partnership disputes, contract litigation, property insurance disputes, catastrophic injury, estate litigation, financial industry regulatory matters, FINRA arbitration matters, employment litigation defense and professional licensing regulatory defense. Patrick also has experience defending a wide array of felony criminal matters in both state and federal courts. Patrick’s clients include and have included individuals, trusts, families, doctors, nurses, attorneys, national collection agencies, national debt purchasing companies, securities broker-dealers, brokers, investment advisors, investment advisory firms, investors, real estate development companies, commercial real estate companies, insurance agencies and executives.
Patrick has achieved millions of dollars in awards and settlements on behalf of both businesses and individuals in a multitude of litigation matters. Additionally, Patrick has tried jury cases to completion resulting in the acquittal of a felony charge, as well as multiple civil cases resulting in jury awards of more than $550,000.00. According to Patrick, “in over ten years of practice, every jury I have advocated before has found in my client’s favor, which is a winning streak I hope to continue.”
BACKGROUND and EDUCATION
Patrick graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. Louis University in 2006, earning a degree in Finance and receiving the Undergraduate Economics Award during his studies. Patrick went on to earn his Juris Doctor degree from the Saint Louis University School of Law, where he was the recipient of the Academic Excellence Award in Criminal Law and focused and achieved excellent academic results in multiple trial advocacy courses. In law school, Patrick clerked at the Office of the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri and at the Madison County, Illinois State's Attorney’s Office, as well as with several highly respected litigation firms. Prior to starting the Watts Law Group in 2016, Patrick worked as a founding member and partner at Sturycz Watts LLC and also worked as an attorney at the St. Louis law firm of Kodner Watkins L.C.
